MIXTAPE

Your data in Mixtape

How the app’s sharing, backups and account controls work.

Your collection and your copies.

Private collections and drafts

My Private Collection and unsent drafts are not sent to other people. When signed in, the library is backed up to the Mixtape service. Backups can include saved people and contact details, songs, lists, drafts and personal notes. These server-readable backups are not end-to-end encrypted.

Sharing and receiving

Sending makes a copy available to the selected recipient. Removing your own copy does not remove theirs. After you send an Our Mixtape, new songs added to it are shared with your friend.

Notifications

Mixtape stores a device push token and notification preferences to send alerts through Apple. Lock-screen alerts use general wording rather than song titles or private notes. Signing out unregisters that installation.

Screenshots used for song matching

You choose the screenshot. Text recognition runs on the device. Titles and artists you choose to search are sent to Apple Music to find candidate recordings. Mixtape does not automatically read your Instagram Saved collection.

Support and safety

Support requests and replies are visible to you and authorized support staff. Restricted safety records expire within 90 days of the original request; an appeal does not restart that period.

Export and deletion

Use Account to export server account data or request deletion. Other people keep their received copies. Provider logs, database snapshots and required financial records have separate retention processes; a deletion receipt does not mean every provider has completed deletion.
